ABOUT THE Bootcamp
The KDV Bootcamp embodies the mission and work ethic of Kianí Del Valle and her team, emphasizing community and shared artistic expression. Over the years, Kianí has expanded her solo projects into ensemble collaborations, leading to the founding of the KDV Performance Group. Now, six years after its inception, the troupe presents the inaugural KDV MOVEMENT BOOTCAMP for the Berlin dance community—a unique opportunity to train with company members in a community setting. To celebrate this milestone and highlight the diverse movement qualities and practices of KDV members, KDV offers a week of varied classes: three research improvisation classes, three diverse technique classes, two body conditioning/recovery classes, and the first-ever KDV REPERTORY class, featuring choreography from past productions taught by Kianí del Valle. Come join us for a week of master classes with Del Valle and her all star team Adam Russell-Jones, Alvin Collantes, Amanda Donato, Antony Franz, Ruben Nsue, Sara Lu, Shannon Leypold & Steven Fast.

CLOSING COMMUNITY GATHERING
The concluding day of our KDV Bootcamp will take place on the Friday on the 26th of September at a separate venue, at the adidas SPORTS BASE BERLIN.
We will host an open dialogue with all KDV instructors, providing a unique opportunity for participants to engage with these passionate leaders. They will discuss their classes and share their perspectives on the transformative power of dance, particularly as a catalyst for community leadership and positive change.
This finale promises to be both educational and inspirational, leaving participants motivated to continue their journey in dance and beyond. The KDV Bootcamp is not just a learning experience; it aims to nurture and guide a community through the power of movement.

The first-ever KDV PERFORMANCE GROUP repertory class marks the celebration of six years of the troupe’s norm bending trajectory. The session opens with a grounding warm-up designed to prepare both body and mind, before moving into learning choreographic sequences from distinctive works including Las Casas Invisibles, Hermanas Brujas, Tierra Quemada, El Túnel, and Cortex. Groove Decomposition
Groove Decomposition is a methodology that explores how to dismantle learned movement patterns to find your own bodily vocabulary. Through body dramaturgy, we investigate the echoes of memories and rhythms that each body holds.
The process works in three phases: dismantling the imposed, deep listening to authentic impulse, and building new ways of moving. Participants explore what stories their body tells and how to create from that personal truth.
Open to artists, movement researchers, and anyone curious to reconnect with their authentic corporeal expression. No prior training needed.

These sessions will explore massage as a self care practice working towards maintaining a healthy, sustainable physical practice, while deepening our understanding of the body.
